Andrés J. Colmenares is a Colombian cartoonist, author, and illustrator best known as the creator of Wawawiwa, a comic series known for its blend of humor, kindness, and imaginative storytelling.

Founded in 2009, Wawawiwa has grown from a personal comic project into an internationally recognized property spanning books, merchandise, and publishing partnerships. Over the past 16 years, Andrés' work has reached readers around the world through social media, books, and licensed products.

Colmenares is the author and illustrator of several books, including When Sharks Attack with Kindness, A Great Big Visual Hug, Peculiar Woods, and the Earth and Moonie (Tierra y Lunita) series.

His books have been published by Penguin Random House, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Simon & Schuster, and translated into multiple languages.

Today, Andrés continues to develop books, comics, and original characters that encourage curiosity, empathy, and a sense of wonder for readers of all ages from his studio in Bogotá, Colombia.
